On 4th Feb 2020, the World Cancer Day organization commemorated day for the awareness and prevention of cancer. World Cancer Day organization is an initiative of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC, the largest and oldest international cancer organization.

Pharma Trax contributed to World Cancer Day dated 4th Feb 2020 and received a recognition certificate by the World Cancer Day Organization.

The theme of World Cancer Day for 2019 to 2021 is set to “I Am and I Will”, to promote the mindset of commitment to action that will lead to reducing the global impact of cancer. World Cancer Day completed it’s 20 years of inception, a journey started from Paris by 6 cancer experts. Now it’s recognized by worldwide organizations, having events in more than 127 countries, a story of inspiration.

To reduce or eliminate the numbers of cancers all stakeholders need to contribute to the capacity building and advocacy initiatives that unite the cancer community to reduce the global cancer burden, promote greater equity and integrate cancer control into the world health and development agenda.

Cancer Statistics:

  • 17 people die every minute from cancer
  • More than 14 million people develop cancer every year
  • 6 million people die from cancer every year
  • Up to 3.7 million lives could be saved each year by implementing resource appropriate strategies for prevention, early detection, and treatment
  • Cancer is the second-leading cause of death worldwide
  • At least one-third of common cancers are preventable
  • 70% of cancer deaths occur in low-to-middle income countries
  • The total annual economic cost of cancer is estimated at US$1.16 trillion
